Frequently Asked Questions
What is a business membership?
A business membership is offered for those who wish to share their membership with others in their place of business. Only the person designated as the primary member will be on record with Rotary International and be able to serve in official roles and receive recognition for awards at the district level or above. Up to 2 additional individuals can be added to a business membership. These individuals are welcome at all club events and are eligible for club level awards and recognition.
How often do you meet?
We typically have a weekly luncheon with a speaker presentation, but will have service and social events in lieu of the lunch about once per month.
When do you meet?
Tuesday at 11:30 AM.
Where do you meet?
Las Palomas Restaurant-Bar, 3201 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, TX 78746
Are members required to attend meetings?
We encourage members to attend meetings, but attendance is not required. We encourage members to participate in service and social opportunities in addition to club meetings. Board meetings are another opportunity to stay engaged with the club.
How much are the dues?
Annual dues are $300 for membership fees. Additional $300 for people who choose not to participate in fund raising. Another $250 optional donation for the good of the club. Lunch is not included in the membership fees.
How much time does Rotary take?
The answer can vary widely based upon a member’s engagement. Weekly luncheons last an hour, service projects (3-4 per year) are usually on weekends and take 3-4 hours typically, and social functions (2-4 per year) may be 2-3 hours each. In addition, there are opportunities to attend district and international events, training, and conventions for those that are interested.
Who can join?
We welcome anyone from the Westlake community that wants to “give back”. Our membership includes local business owners, philanthropists, professionals, civic leaders, and retirees that all share a desire to do great things here and around the world. We also sponsor INTERACT clubs at Westlake High School and St. Stephens Episcopal School that offer similar opportunities to local high school students.
