Chris Prosise is an adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. Chris co-founded Foundstone, Inc., an information security company in 1999. After Foundstone was acquired by McAfee in 2004, Chris served as Senior Vice President of Professional Services. He began his career in information security as an active duty intel officer at the Air Force Information Warfare Center, performing some of the Internet’s earliest red team and incident response activities. As a Manager at Ernst & Young he led and performed similar penetration testing and incident response engagements for Fortune 500 clients. Chris also served as an adjunct Professor and Faculty Advisor at Carnegie Mellon University where he taught graduate students the latest techniques in ethical hacking and incident response.

He is also co-author of the best-selling book, Incident Response: Investigating Computer Crime, and of CNET’s “Security Issues” column. Chris has been a featured Speaker at conferences such as Networld+Interop, Infragard, LegalTech, and the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). He has written articles for SysAdmin and is the technical editor of Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions and Upgrading, Troubleshooting, and Maintaining Networks: The Complete Reference.

Chris holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
