Weekly Meeting: Shannon Hamilton, Executive Director of Central Texas Water Coalition

Shannon Hamilton is the Executive Director of the Central Texas Water Coalition (CTWC), a nonprofit dedicated to advocating for the Highland Lakes and the water supply of Central Texas. With a background in IT, she joined CTWC in November 2022, driven by the urgent need to protect our most valuable resource—water.

Shannon has become a trusted advisor to state and local elected officials, businesses, and residents, helping them navigate critical water issues and policy decisions. She also serves as an alternate on Region K, the regional water planning group, actively participating in committee meetings to advocate for necessary updates to the water planning process. Currently she is focused on water bills for this 89th Legislative Session as well as the opening of the LCRA Water Management Plan.

Her commitment to water advocacy and long-term sustainability is unwavering, as she works to secure a more resilient water future for Austin and the surrounding region.

She will be talking about:

  • The Current Drought and our lake levels

  • Inflows and some of the reasons the lakes are low and having trouble filling up

  • Bills for this legislative session

  • The LCRA Water Management Plan Best Ways to Conserve
