Brendan Hansen (born August 15, 1981) is an American former competition swimmer who specialized in breaststroke events. Hansen is a six-time Olympic medalist, and is also a former world record-holder in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events (long course).
He won a total of twenty-five medals in major international competition, eighteen gold, four silver, and three bronze spanning the Olympics, the World, and the Pan Pacific Championships. He was a member and team captain of the 2004, 2008, and 2012 United States Olympic team. As team captain, Brendan was known for his leadership skills and ability to create a strong team culture.
After retiring from the sport at the 2012 London Olympic Games, Brendan has been part of startups, long standing businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Currently, he serves as Director of Team Services at USA Swimming, managing an internal team in charge of 2,800 local businesses that reach roughly 400,000 customers. Brendan leans on his passion for helping a team, group, or organization exceed its own potential as he continues to solidify his leadership skills in the business development space.
