Dr. James Henson directs the Texas Politics Project and teaches in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin. Since 2008, he has co-directed the University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll, and has designed and implemented polls and provided strategic analyses for a wide range of non-profits and interest groups. He is the principal author of a web-based textbook on Texas government, Texas Politics, now in its third edition from Soomo Learning.


He earned his MA and PhD from the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin. He served as a member and chairman of the City of Austin Ethics Review Commission from 2009 to 2012, is a member of the Travis County Elections Study Group, and has been a member of the Subiendo Leadership Academy Advisory Board since it’s founding in 2010.
