Servant Leader, Husband, Father, Scout Master, Engineer and Nerd all in one.

With no direction in my life, I joined the Army and got some process and direction beat in me along the journey, I met my lovely wife from my roommate, it was like a packaged deal, best of both worlds. I had my best friend and married his cousin.  No not Kissing cousins either.  

After Desert Storm, I moved to Austin in Oct 1991 and still could not get enough of the service, so I joined National Guard in Austin while at the old Airport.  Had firsthand site to drug cartel, natural disasters and humanitarian disasters in Eastern Europe.   

While working my way thru college at ACC at the time, I was working for AMD in Austin as a pipefitter with high purity welding, and occasionally had plumber moments.   As I finished my degree at ACC, I moved into Finance and later earned my Computer Science degree at St. Edwards then shifting to Programming at AMD.  While at AMD, I worked with Frank Schleicher which asked on many occasions about coming to Rotary. I finally came to one meeting and really enjoyed it, however I did not at that time.  I thought I was busy with work and 1 child oh boy I was in for a surprise. 

I then quit AMD in the hopes to start my own company.  We had success selling to State of Michigan, my wife was not working and having our second child. I just could not get another client and funds where drying up and cash flow was really low. I had recalled 2 years earlier about Rotary and recalled how many success women and men I met there.  I felt I need to go to Rotary and learn from successful small business owners. 

I met a very inspiring Rotarian which then help me personal and professionally.   He to this day is someone I admire very much as a result.  I have become a better servant leader because of him. 

Next few years is more work at other Tech and Financial companies still yearning to be a business owner. Seeking adventure in my life.  My old Army mate and I decide we are going from Mexico to Canada on dual sport motorcycles, all 3600 miles 50% dirt 50% road.  Well to make this more complicated, we both bring our sons; 15 and 16 at the time.  So many stories as a result of that adventure saved for another time. 

Today I am Staff Engineer at Silicon Labs working in IoT (Internet of Things) around security, systems and solutions.  I have a great boss and life is going well at the moment, knowing that can change at any time.  I have been very blessed in my life, I learned so much from so many. I hope I can do the same in return for others. We are here once, what we do, how we treat others and how we take our talent and gifts to make our world, country and communities will last an eternity.
